SOULCLAP – DIE ENTE
Quaaaaaaaaaaaack…!!! Soulclap’s “die Ente”, the second vinyl release for NYC/Buenos Aires-based label AirDrop Records keeps thigns in high gear following up “The Giraffe”, a the limited edition yellow 10” by the same artists that swept WMC ’08. “die Ente” which means ‘the duck’ in German is already being rinsed by the likes of Italoboyz, Claude Von Stroke, Justin Martin and J-Phlip getting the crowds whipped up into frenzy.
Soulclap’s original mix sucks you in with its seductive sounds, squeaky rubber duck squeals and big, warm, smooth synth lines that will make your heart pop. When the addictive ducky horn kicks in, your feet won’t know how to respond. On the flip fellow Bostonian Tanner Ross heads in a totally different direction to create a compact masterpiece. Harnessing the evil of his Voodeux project, Ross strips down the drums and brings the spooky pads and an original horror stab to the forefront. Like the original it is at the drop that the remixes truly shines, with huge bass explosions pushing it over the top and creating mass destruction.
The true and authentic Soulclap blend consists of distinct New York, Chicago and Detroit flavors; in its essence, it pays tribute to all the major influences that have help to shape their distinct sound. “die Ente” echoes the bouncy and joy-filled affair that is New York house, an era in music history that was seldom surpassed in its uninhibited celebration of freedom, exuberance and glory.
The label artwork for Airdrop 002 is a continuation of the origami theme with a new and more simplistic, functional touch. “die Ente” will be released as a limited 12″ vinyl scheduled for release in the beginning of June 2008, followed by the digital release in July on Beatport and all specialized online stores.
