AirDrop Records are on a roll and deliver the next strike without further delay. Again unearthing some of the freshest talents around, they signed Clip from Buenos Aires who is ready to take over with his seriously groovy outing on AirDrop – which funnily enough, is his first release ever! Well, kind of. Under his moniker Peter Pan Project, he has already enjoyed considerable success as one of his original tracks was included on the “AirDrop Extraction” compilation which came out a few months ago, showcasing fresh talent and emerging artists from Argentina.
An exciting new development for the devoted DJ and producer Clip aka Seb who was born 30 years ago and jumpstarted his career in 1999 when he began to buy vinyls which later led to a steadfast career in a record shop called Plasma in Buenos Aires. Since then, he has DJed in all the Argentinean hot spots and even started a “cultural interchange”, organizing parties and events in Uruguay.
His track is an exciting journey that manages to ruff up the floor with its charming little clinks and cracks and rattling, scatting voice snippets. Quirky old school drums that sound like from outer Detroit city limit push the track forward, while a bunch of shivery crunching hihats and a weirdly screeching alarm clock sample that drives the track around the bend towards the end get softly underlined by a fine outing of subliminal dub. Very subtle and driving, the original track creates a lingering sensation of grooviness…
The remix duty was taken on by the Russian duo Bvoice and Khz, a pair of producers hailing from somewhere really, really far out. So far out that people walk on their heads and talk with their feet. Cool place. Their remix is similarly unsettling – in a nice way. Imagine bouncing on some cloud, with your feet all covered in lush marsh-mellow pads, when suddenly these slightly disharmonic keys that float into space and turn the track into a melancholic, ragged silver dreamscape. Deep stuff.
