CAPE
Fernando Cappelletti aka Cape — pronounced [cà-pé] — was born in 1985. Eleven years later, he discovered club music, with tunes like Van Helden’s Funk Phenomena or Inner City’s hits leaving a deep impact. Immediately identifying with the genre, he let the house feeling move and twist his feet while the groove slowly took over his core. He also developed a strong appreciation for rock music while learning to play the guitar and listening to the likes of Depeche Mode, Sonic Youth, Pink Floyd and the Sex Pistols, accumulating great knowledge of contemporary music. Yet it wasn’t until the year 2000 that Cape discovered Ricardo Villalobos’ creations and with him a whole new dimension — electronic music –, which left him speechless. He then started listening to amazing artists like Franco Cinelli in locations such as El Faro or El Sotano — legendary clubs in their mutual home town –, and this experience left a permanent mark.
Cape is hailing from Rosario, the beautiful Santa Fe province capital. The legendary city sits right on the banks of the Rio de la Plata, north of Buenos Aires, and is a buzzing creative hub with an impressive string of producers celebrating an international breakthrough in recent years: Nico Purman, Franco Cinelli, Lucas Mari, Jorge Savoretti and Andrés Zacco are just a few of the illusive artists to have marked the Rosario sound. The latter clearly impregnates Cape’s productions as he naturally started making music and receiving support from his fellow artists. Also strongly influenced by Laurent Garnier, Robert Hood, Basic Channel, Speedy J or Terrence FM on one side and Cabanne, Luciano, Perlon, Mathew Jonson or Baby Ford on the other, Cape creates an interesting and rich blend of techno and house with dub patterns and Detroit sonorities.
It is a real honor to release Cape’s first productions — one of our favorite emerging artists ever. Three very solid tracks, each building up slowly with nice rhythmic patterns fused in with a warm laidback dancefloor sensitivity.
