Andrés Zacco (House/ Techno – AR)

Andrés Zacco was born in Pergamino (Argentina) in 1980. At the age of 10, he had his first contact with music as he started studying the piano. He began to DJ in social events playing popular music at the age of 12. In 1996 at only 15 years old, Andrés received his first residence in a nightclub in Pergamino. While going to record stores as a hobby, he discovered electronic music, especially attracted to the sounds originating from Chicago and Detroit and in 1998, Andrés Zacco took the step and began producing his own material. Playing in important clubs around the country like El Sotano and Republica (Rosario), Club Minimo and Mint (Buenos Aires) – amongst many others – Andrés shared the booth with Dominik Eulberg, Franco Cinelli, Anja Schneider or Nico Purman to name a few. His DJ sets and live performances have a very eclectic style. In 2006, Andrés produced releases for different netlabels: Nomucho (Chile), Flumo (Spain) and GRHK (Uruguay). In 2007 he released a 12″ on Stock5 (Germany) with his friend and partner Lucas Mari with remixes from Agnes, Boeing and Seph – in June 2007, Seph’s remix was featured on Ellen Allien’s Boogybytes. With records coming out on Traut Musik and AIRDROP in 2009 Andres Zacco already promises to leave a great trace in techno history.
Crazy Larry (Techno/ Vintage Instruments – US)

With no rave scene and virtually no radio support in most American markets, kids like Crazy Larry were forced to discover the wonders of dance music on their own accord. Hailing from Denver, Colorado, Larry Ursini is a young talent that has no fear when it comes to new technology and embraces it fully. Upon graduating from high school Larry enrolled in the Audio Engineering program at CU Denver. He also started doing his own Live PA in January of 2006, debuting in NYC for his closest friend in dance music, Taimur Agha. The live performance incorporates his actual drum machines; live home made plug-ins, and even the Nintendo Wii! Larry also teamed up with Pier Bucci while he was in town for a gig, and they subsequently released a joint EP under the Glacier moniker for Wagon Repair. If you’re after quality rather than chart topping hits, you’ll definitely want to give Crazy Larry a listen. Watch out for his upcoming record on AIRDROP in June 2009…
Dilo (Minimal, IDM, Aquatic – AR)

Living high among a forest of skyscrapers in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Franco Di Lorenzo (a.k.a. Dilo and Elephant Pixel and member of the band Monotax) works diligently in his home studio. His musical tastes and influences include IDM, abstract hip-hop, indie rock, folk, minimal techno, click and electro — all of which are represented throughout his various music productions. In 2003, Dilo (alongside Bruno De Vincenti a.k.a. Ivan Johnson) launched the cd label, Zensible. In 2005, he launched his own cd & mp3 label, Igloo, a musical platform that incarnates itself through electronic music’s more innovative and versatile genres, stemming from IDM onwards to Minimal. In 2006 Dilo was included in the compilation “Aires Buenos” (on the U.S. label Unfoundsound). The same year Dilo produced a track for the essential french label Telegraph, included in the Post Office Special Argentina Madness (tel30), a compilation that brought together a new generation of experimental minimal techno artists from Argentina, including Seph, Violett, Franco Cinelli, Gurtz, Funzion, Jorge Savoretti & Leonel Castillo. Similarly, Dilo also participated in the first AirDrop Extraction Argentina Compilation released early 2008 and will be releasing the Temporal/Post Vendeval EP later this year featuring an Alka_Rex remix.
Constar (High-Octane Electronic Music – US)

Constar is DJ Connie’s alias for her production works. As a DJ, Connie stands as the leading woman figure of the New York underground dance music scene. Having played around the country and the globe with the most respected talents, Connie continues to make a name for herself as a resident for ReSolute NYC, a top underground electronic music party, where she takes care of bookings with her partner in crime, Elon. It is an honor for AIRDROP to showcase her first released production on this compilation.
Cape (House/ Dubby Techno – AR)

Cape is hailing from Rosario, the beautiful Santa Fe province capital. The legendary city sits right on the banks of the Rio de la Plata, north of Buenos Aires, and is a buzzing creative hub with an impressive string of producers celebrating an international breakthrough in recent years: Nico Purman, Franco Cinelli, Lucas Mari, Jorge Savoretti and Andrés Zacco are just a few of the illusive artists to have marked the Rosario sound. The latter clearly impregnates Cape’s productions as he naturally started making music and receiving support from his fellow artists. Also strongly influenced by Laurent Garnier, Robert Hood, Basic Channel, Speedy J or Terrence FM on one side and Cabanne, Luciano, Perlon, Mathew Jonson or Baby Ford on the other, Cape creates an interesting and rich blend of techno and house with dub patterns and Detroit sonorities.
Pat Fontes (Techno – US)

Pat’s knowledge of electronic music has made him into what many have stated as a ‘connoisseur of sorts’. Pat’s style of DJing and production is an utterly unique and healthy mixture of house and techno genres, sometimes going beyond into a more experimental approach. Pat was brought up in a Boston suburb by his Portuguese mother. With now over a decade of DJing experience he was also the former owner and manager, of now legendary Satellite Records Boston. Being quoted by his peers as “Mr. Techno”, Pat is a walking encyclopedia of electronic music. In addition to his newfound AIRDROP familia, Pat has released on such labels as Thoughtless Music or Monism.
Fase (Minimal Techno – AR)

Behind Fase are: Gustavo Gagliardo, Leandro Waisbord, Pedro Perelman and Martin Tibabuzo. Fase is a collective founded in the year 2000, that is active in Buenos Aires and works on both end of the audio-visual spectrum. From musical production to visual animation and street-art to VJing, Fase finalizes all-inclusive projects and shows, which create a truly complete realm, allowing it to fully expressing their vision. On the musical side, even if experimentation surrounds a Techno essence, some sounds have been surviving since the very foundation of Fase: Aquatic sounds, clicks and glitches, video-gaming bleeps. Fase keeps the groove as main purpose, using kicks and basses to create melodies coming right from the under layers of the earth, factory sounds and darkness. Detroit Underground and Jean-Michel Basquiat’s work can stand as referents to the universe they perpetually share. Fase Miusic Sender plans its live sets to build climates and organically evolving structures. The video sequencing that comes to complete Fase’s world, is solely dependent of, and exclusively adapting to the evolution of the music. Exploring the graphic language, Fase keeps fantasy, synthesis, abstraction and powerful colors as main visual focus. Music expressing visuals, visuals expressing music… The circle is now complete.
Restart & Stone (Funky Minimal Techno – IT)

Riccardo Inizio and Pietro Rianna were born close to the Vesuve. They started djing and music editing in 2005 with the precious project called “The OP”. Thanks to their strong sound, they reside at the ”Velvet Zone”, a very important Napolitan underground club where they shared their dj performance with Anja Schneider, Frankie and Justin Berkmann. They consider their music to be a mirror of contemporary life.
Viesse (Tech House – IT)

Raffaele Arcella and Joele D’Angelo are two young Napolitan DJ/ Producers. They started this artistic enterprise only recently, but were soon happy with their results thanks to their strongly determined passion. They like dynamic minimal sounds under the influence of classic house and new electronics, one that really fits the various Napolitan dancefloors. While producing, they also collaborate with Restart & Stone on special projects…
Dirty Room (House/ Tech-House – AR)

“Dirty Room was born when the Dirty Sox and the Dirty Pants experiment reached a degree of saturation” jokes Roman Fleischer, who subsequently moved on to bigger things (and still keeps quiet about the origin of the name of his project name). Starting off as an experimental electronic music producer in 1999 meant that the Argentine-German producer had no problems at all to fuse guitar riffs and psychedelic sounds with old school software techniques. Nevertheless, his studies of sound engineering and music production led to full-time devotion to new sounds and structures which resulted in amazing minimalistic spectral sound structures aimed on the floor.
Minimaril (Techno/ House/ Drums – AR)

Born in Venezuela, 19 years-old Mariano Gabriel (a.k.a Minimaril) grew up in Buenos Aires.
Having DJed for five years, since he is 14, Minimaril has been playing in Buenos Aires’ most influential venues and started to collect experience very early. On the production side, the young artist’s talent and vision add up to his superior efficiency and diversity in exploring various horizons of Techno. Minimaril celebrated his career debut with a first appearance on the compilation AirDrop Presents Extraction. AirDrop has now released Minimaril’s first Digital EP featuring three original tracks and a remix by Boston duo Soulclap. With a 12-inch release scheduled for the Summer on AirDrop, needless to say: you will keep hearing from Mariano many times
Paulo (Deep House & Techno – FR)

Paulo was way too young to get into clubs when he was starting to feel the electronic pulses of a restless generation ready to change the course of things. After having had the pleasure to select and compile jazz and blues records with his dad who passed away when Paulo, son of French and Mexican parents, was only ten, Paulo got infected with the house virus a couple years later when his older brother returned from the States with anything from early Silver Planet records to Gemini’s “In Neutral EP”. In 2001, after experimenting with only one record turntable, he finally got his second one, laying tracks for his impressive future as an eclectic and emotive DJ who can already look back at a stunning list of accomplishments at the tender age of 22.
Rhythm Ruckus (Underground Hip-Hop – US)

Rhythm Ruckus has been called “the closest thing to Slayer that Vermont hip-hop will ever see.” From an inauspicious complex nestled in the abdomen of Vermont’s lush green mountains, Dr. Caucasian and Scribe1 dispense serrated infotainment from the barren, shrieking maw of Generation Dead. MSNBC’s “Current Magazine” says “their gritty, experimental music represents a re-emergence of raw, socially conscious hip-hop.” Their new LP, due in early 2008, is a sprawling meditation on rural existence, confusion, rebellion, depravity, joy, and ruin. It includes guest appearances from Kool G Rap, Vast Aire of Cannibal Ox, Sticman of Dead Prez, Cottonmouth TX and Chris Ballew of the Presidents of the United States of America. Their last gig was a sold-out hometown show. In the mean time you can go to myspace to listen to their music.
Telexx (Noise Pop – AR)

Not exactly Rock, Telexx defines its style to be Noise-Pop. Composed by five Argentine musicians, the Buenos Aires-based band is a favourite of many around the country. Featuring distorted and saturated sonorities, the group never fails to surround the beautiful voice of Shamz, their young singer, with the most challenging yet catching harmonies. Airdrop is currently working with Telexx in the studio, in view of an upcoming release.
Thank you for the Drum Machine (Electronica/ Rock – IT)

Surfing on the Modern Rock wave, TYftDM extensively uses and fuses electronic sounds into their guitars, drums and low voices. Leading the Northern-Italian Indie scene, they appear every week-end in Milan, Florence, Arrezzo being a favourite choice for the public and promoters. In addition to the recent EP release on AirDrop, a secret and purely electronic project is also on the way…
