Rooting her emotions in a deep and long romance with Bryan Ferry and Sade, MINNI’s voice floats somewhere between the latter’s irresistible sensuality and Annie Lenox’s fierce dynamics. Her low-register and sometimes uttered flow isn’t without bringing Nico to mind.
MINNI arrived in Berlin from Zagreb by way of Brighton. A classically trained guitarist, MINNI writes her shimmering songs with her many percussion instruments, synthesizers and drum machines. A new series of songs will see release in 2017 under the form of an EP and an album.
First introduction to this sensual and intimate dimension of her work, “Fool” was co-produced by David Kosten (Bat for Lashes, Marina and the Diamonds…) with percussions by Jason Cooper (The Cure) and the sax of Otis Sandsjö.
London-based act Two Another emerged at the end of last year with a first string of singles. Today marks the premiere of ‘Shouldn’t Have Done That’.
Their songs are addictively slinky and nocturnal pop tunes inspired by the decadent end of 70’s soul and pages from J Dilla’s production book. The duo’s smooth hook-laden vocals and bass lines are simply reminiscent of the Motown era, employing a more stripped back and emotive approach.
As a body of work, this debut EP introduces an outfit with a vibrant and accomplished sonic poise, rich musical references and songs that are instantly infectious. With a lot more in the pipeline for 2016, it’s the perfect opportunity to start watching out for Two Another.
Two Another is now out on 12″ vinyl on Airdrop Records.
Airdrop takes New York City based producer Evan Michael onboard for two new steaming-hot releases.
First up is the aptly named “Ancient Times”, Evan Michael swirls the hands of the clock backwards and dives deep into his NYC roots, blending disco elements and classic house structures with a twist of funk and serious cutoff action!
Coming next, will be “Looking Inward” with a savagely percussive mix from the Italian king of House, Mr. Claudio Coccoluto. Stay tuned!
Ancient Times will come out on April 15th, 2016.
