Mark Caramelli and Paul Hargreaves really marked their territory in 2011. On top of their latest release on Airdrop, the Leeds duo presented its productions on Jef K’s Silver Network label, on Catz N’ Dogz‘ Pets Recordings imprint and on Culprit the label handled by Los Angeles DJ-collective Droog.

This new edition of Airdrop’d – our free download series – presents ‘Long Ago‘, initially included in DOTB’s ‘We Need Passion EP‘ on Airdrop. ‘Long Ago‘ got remixed by Mark E for the occasion, but today we are sending you the original version for download. Enjoy!

Today we’re celebrating the 50th episode of our beloved AirPod – but this month also marks our podcast’s 4th anniversary! That’s right, over the last four years – and since Paulo’s first episode in Dec. ‘07 – we sent out no less than fifty mixes from our roster’s precious talents.

Who better to observe such jubilee with, than someone who keeps raising the level of wonderment record after record, mix after mix – Mr. Andres Zacco. Fresh off the release of his third 12″ on Airdrop Records, we are proud to announce Zacco’s participation in our next Aux-Rec project, the re-release and remixing of an original piece by Icelandic producer Exos.

The next twelve months are set to hold many more surprises for Andres Zacco. His label Greener Records will be presenting the 2nd volume of its ambient compilation series – Landscapes Of The Future, as well as 12″s by himself, Jacek Sienkiewicz and Dario Zenker. Also on his schedule is a European tour in May 2012, for which we are already booking.

Over two years ago already, we were announcing Andres Zacco’s first EP on Airdrop. The ‘Seated Hopping EP‘ had been sent to us by Andres’ best friend, none other than el Señor Franco Cinelli. Needless to say, we fell in love with the subtlety of his music.

Fast forward until today and be prepared to be blown away by how much Zacco’s musical refinement has developed. Impossible you will say, as you remember last year’s ‘Something In Your Smile EP’ on Airdrop or ‘Drawing Clouds’ on Zacco’s Greener label. Well, give it a listen! Here are three beautiful original tracks, made out of a collection of universal sound, carefully crafted and perfectly mixed in Andres Zacco’ Rosario studio.

This fully-fledged EP comes to round off a year of successes for Andres Zacco. Having released key 12″s on Dario Zenker’s Ilian Tape label (out of which Raresh included ‘Icegrass’ on his latest Cocoon compilation, or a few weeks ago bursting all techno charts with the original ‘Dextre’ track on Jonas Kopp’s Traut imprint.

Swayzak’s Brun listened to the first sketches of this EP and immediately decided to give a go to the main track. The result is a conceptual treatment that reflects the advanced maturity of the Swayzak sound, deep inspiration to most, if not all.

In prevision of the celebrations, Beijing’s Science of Sounds Label invited Paulo and Airdrop Records to perform at their regular label showcase at Bassment. Infamous undergound DJ Wendy Wenn from Hong Kong will warm things up, and Science of Sounds label head Lupen will close the night.

At the end of each year, the same circus happens over and over again. We try to wrap up (not only Xmas presents) but all the things we’ve pushed under the carpet until the last minute. All of this cumulates in the most hectic moment of the year, whereas we should really be enjoying our well deserved holidays!

So in the midst of the year end craze, take a minute to load up Brandub’s latest mix into your iPod. This hour of genuine dubby euphoria lift us many strata away from any superfluous concerns. Brandub applied his craft in his home studio, in the city of Cordoba, Argentina. His debut EP on Airdrop last year displayed Brandub’s inclinations clearly – a warm, comforting sound oscillating between deep house and dub techno.

We also take on this opportunity to announce that Brandub’s next release on Airdrop is now mastered and ready. The ‘Bank Side EP’ features three originals and a Beat Pharmacy take realized by Mr. Brendon Moeller. This project is set for release towards the end of January, bringing an extra layer of warmth in the middle of the cold winter. Kick back and relax!

On Saturday, December 10th, Clique Bookings will be hosting their regular night at Berlin’s infamous Horst Kreuzberg. Airdrop’s own Paulo will be warming things up, leading way for a fantastic line up.

On top of the bill sits Hamburg-based wonderduo Kollektiv Turmstrasse, who will present their unique live performance as well as another duo, Format B, active member of the Highgrade stable.

On the 10th, Clique will be presenting especially the live performance of Danish talent Uffe, who is currently making big waves. Berlin figurehead Koljah will be on closing duties. Don’t miss out!

Aux-Rec is back for its fourth project, following the ‘Baker Man’ edit by Soul Clap (so good it became an official remix on Laid Back’s label), first class remixes by Franco Cinelli and the ‘Caught Up’ bootleg by Le Loup & Funkalicious James aka Childhood ‘87.

We are feverish to bring you today two new bomb bootlegs by Argentine top producers Leonel Castillo and Lexdinamo. Those in the know have been familiar with these names for over ten years now and know how rare their productions are. As a matter of fact, this is probably the first time you will be able to get your hands on such bootleg productions from these two cats.

Leonel Castillo’s signature shuffly blend is unmistakably recognizable on this A-side, on which he pays his tribute to one of the most emotional Soul masterpieces by The Dells, the ‘74 released ‘I Wish It Was Me You Loved’, bringing it into full dancefloor effect. Lexdinamo does what noone did before, jumbling even further one of Bobby McFerrin’s most genius vocal medleys, ‘Drive’. Avid bootleg followers may have previously heard this version, but we just can’t get enough of it!

Beatport has some swanky new digs in Berlin, and a brand-new DJ booth to boot! To inaugurate our new space, we invited Paulo Reachi to drop by for a mix, which we broadcast live on our Ustream.

If you’re not familiar with Paulo’s name, that’s because he’s more of a behind-the-scenes kind of guy, having worked at PIAS and !K7 in addition to his current gig as A&R and label manager at Tresor; he’s also a co-founder of Argentina’s Airdrop Records.

Thanks for stopping by Beatport to play for us! What’s it like to play in the Beatport booth, and have you done other live Internet mixes like this?

And this was not just any Beatport booth! It was the new office’s booth that I inaugurated, on the first day of moving into the new space, which is, by the way, a fantastic one. This was the second time I play on such an Internet broadcasted session. The previous one had three girls in bikinis doing body painting next to us, maybe a good idea to use!

Could you tell us a little about your track selection today? How did you pick out tracks for the mix, and what tunes are you particularly feeling right now?

As usual, nothing really thought out in advance. However, normally on radio shows, I like to play some non-electronic music or non-4/4 tracks that I am listening to at the moment. But this time around, since the public is definitely looking to hear something on the electronic side, I felt like doing a deep selection, what I would play in a warmup set maybe.

Are there any upfront, unreleased tracks you played that we should be keeping our eyes open for?

A good part of the tracks I played today is unreleased material by my good friends from Argentina, Franco Cinelli, Andres Zacco and Leonel Castillo. These three guys make the most incredible music you ever heard, each one in their own styles. Franco makes the classiest club tracks, Andres produces the most subtle techno you will ever get the chance to listen, and Leonel can really cover the whole electronic spectrum – he can do anything in the most distinguished manner. Franco Cinelli will be releasing new remixes on my label Airdrop Records and on BPitch Control. Leonel Castillo will be launching Groovear, his vinyl label, in 2012, and Andres Zacco is releasing his new 12” on Airdrop with a Swayzak remix and a stellar remix of Icelandic techno veteran Exos, on Aux-Rec – but that’s vinyl only… sorry!

What’s your DJ setup like? Do you play with Traktor, Serato, Ableton, CDJs, or something else?

Mostly CDs and some vinyl too – I used Traktor for a couple years, but that’s over now! It is too much of a hassle to plug all these cables in the mixers, but also to rely on your computer which can always crash.

For listeners who want to check you out in person, could you tell us about any club residencies you may have, and where you’ll be touring next?

I will be playing on December 10th at Horst Kreuzberg in Berlin, on the 17th in Hong Kong at Bassment and in Paris on January 26th.
