Brandub – aka Exequiel Brandan – is a young producer and DJ, who has his roots in the city of Cordoba – Argentina. Very much involved in the local scene, Exequiel started playing in his hometown’s main clubs such as La Macarena or Dorian Gray in 2007.

In those walls, he already engraved numerous sets with his friends and influences, such as Lexdinamo or Simbad. In 2008, the latter invited Exequiel to play the mythical annual summer night in Cordoba, at La Cantera (a magical mountain spot under the stars) along some of the countries greatest : Franco Cinelli, Jorge Savoretti or Gurtz were all part of it.

Creating an interesting blend of deep house, which incorporates a substantial dub-grain, the ‘Maquetas EP’ is an intimate release showing pride to its inspiration. ‘Sakura’ will be available for download on airdrop.com as part of the Airdropped series.

Previously to this new direction Exequiel Brandan also appeared on various occasions : in 2008 his track ‘Flying’ appeared on Richie Hawtin‘s ‘Sounds From Can Elles’ compilation and in 2009 he released the ‘Momentous EP’ on Spanish spearhead label Esperanza.

Adrian Valenzuela, also known as Canu, is one of Argentina’s most versatile musicians. Residing in Mar Del Plata, on Argentina’s oceanline, he began his career in various early 90′s bands. It wasn’t until ’95 that Canu settled as the composer and singer of the famous rock band Altocamet.

After the release of Velada Bristol Casino – their first album – in 1997, the band came up with a house hit celebrated by all, Pasion Descalza, released on Shinichi in 2000 and remixed by Swayzak.

At that point, Canu decided to take his solo career to new horizons, releasing his first album that same year – Corriente de Aire – on the legendary Argentine label Estatus Disco. Glass was actually the opening song to Canu’s album.

Ten years later, Franco Cinelli decides to come back on his friend Canu and on Glass, this track that he loved and played so much at the time, bringing a complete lift to it, with three versions that will leave all of you DJs in awe…

From Franco Cinelli’s main Remix to his NYC Bass Line Mix going through the Hatapella tool, the man in charge takes all the Glass original elements remodeling them to higher grounds. Franco Cinelli’s genius blend of dubby techno with original ’90s NYC house synths and bass lines proves once again to be the perfect balance .

This Re-Edition record follows up on two brilliant edits on Aux-Rec, Baker Man by Soul Clap and Caught Up by Childhood ’87. By Aux-Rec criterion, it will only come out on 12″ vinyl. Franco Cinelli’s NYC Bass Line Mix will be accessible as bonus to record-buyers only.

After releasing milestone EPs between 2007 and 2008 on Pheek’s Archipel imprint, Immigrant and their home label, Cynosure, the Uruguayan duo MONOBLOCK completed a great 2009. Inaugurating the Spanish Une Label during the summer with their Introduktion EP, Monoblock also released InTensiones, their third record on Mike Shannon‘s Cynosure.

Recent Berlin implants, by way of Valencia, MONOBLOCK start off 2010 right with an unabridged and superbly executed artist EP on Airdrop Records. Bringing together three tracks of different moods, the Shouting Nonsense EP reflects the richness and diversity of the various electronic concepts covered by Monoblock. Going from the most rousing and igniting grooves in Shouting Nonsense to the more stripped environment of Cienpies, via the use of live instruments in Calid.

As MONOBLOCK headlined Berlin’s Weekend Club’s Sylvester bash, and with many worldwide performances, including gigs in Japan, at London’s Fabric last month or a US tour in April, 2010 already announces itself to be greatly bounteous for the fantastic duo!

Right on the heels of Aux-Rec’s enthusiastically received 1st release featuring very contemporary revisits of the 1950′s classic “Fever” by Franco Cinelli and Club Rayo, this 2nd chapter of the Aux-Rec project travels to different eras, into different styles. And this is precisely what we had set to do: zig-zag through dance music history in search of personal favorites and classics to be revisited or refreshed.

For the present release, we travel to two distinct dates: 1989 for the A-side, and 1979 for the B-side. Two tracks that are 10 years apart, but that both share a fiercely upbeat and affirmative musical profile, as well as a certain ageless, core, compositional quality. In this release you will find groove of the highest standard, infused with subtle mood and feeling, that will take the pre-party into the party, and the waiting lounge into the airplane.

‘Baker Man’ was Danish duo Laid Back’s second hit after the even more popular ‘White Horse’… so good a track that it deserved to be reworked and revived! The original groove of ‘Baker Man’ was already highly infectious back then. A simple yet effective composition of electric guitar, horns, organ and soulful female vocals that brings the image of a joyful road trip to mind. The lazy male vocals and melody, and the incoherent lyrics, give the track an absolute downtempo and trippy feel to it.

Soul Clap (the highly sought after and extremely hot Boston duo) with their inimitable mighty touch of turning anything soulful into something supremely soulful, have taken the positivity and groove of the track to an even more powerful degree. The rhythmic traits of the track are pumped, enhanced and sharpened. And the trippy, “weightless” quality of the song is developed through additional long, floating keys and quirky effects (for even more weightless experience, check the original music video of the song by Lars von Trier!)

Our second track features a wild yet chic rework of Inner Life’s “Caught Up (In A One Night Love Affair)” by Childhood ’87, who are none other than the highly talented and up-and-coming Le Loup, along with his childhood buddy Funkalicious James. Our two Frenchmen apply an innovative disco-house touch that takes the Inner Life classic to new danceable heights while maintaining Jocelyn Brown’s signature diva vocals for a ripping effect!

Last time you heard Fontes on Airdrop was a while ago, on the occasion of the “ill lillies” appearance on our Extraction US compilation. This makes the You Make Me EP a largely awaited release. PAT FONTES has been preparing this one for a while now, giving way to a myriad of roaring techno waves.

Featured here are two Fontes originals, “You Make Me” and “La Noche“, great assortments of key classic old-school techno elements: shuffles, relieving synths, ravaging jack-hammer grooves and half-time switches.

On the remix front, TANNER ROSS takes “You Make Me” on a ride to dubtechno grounds. Applying sandy and gritty aesthetics to his remix, Pat’s Boston neighbour excels in technique and vision with this exquisite modern remix.

Remixing “La Noche” is Mr. PAUL MAC, who has been one of Pat’s greatest inspiration since the early days and over the years. Having the man accept to remix one of the two tracks was a great excitment for us all. We find here PAUL MAC‘s signature sound: spectacular crystal clear big room techno… Enjoy!
