John Spring was born Johannes Mai in 1979 in Rostock on Germany’s north-east coast. His musical journey began at the age of 5 when he started playing the piano. By the age of 15 he graduated from Rostockís Music Conservatory and the piano lessons stopped as his interest in electronic music began to grow. Come 1996, after a lot of funny club nights he bought his first techno records and started DJing. Since 1998 he has been producing his own music under the alias John Spring, a healthy mixture of house and techno. The first John Spring vinyl single was released on his later home label Sub Static in 2003, and its A-side ‘Strange’ turned out to be one of the hits of 2003. In the next years many successful releases on labels like Crosstown Rebels, Resopal, Harthouse, Ostwind, BigCityBeats, Perplex, and of course Sub Static followed, being licensed to Cocoon or Four:Twenty as well. Not to forget his shows in top venues like Panoramabar, Womb, Watergate, Kazantip, Bar25 and many, many more.
