When Airdrop was founded in 2006, the labels’ mission was clear: to drop some delectable, danceable high quality releases produced by cutting-edge audio and visual artists. Airdrop drives new talents through maturation and further supports established musicians from all around the globe. Bridging the often-too-wide gap between the Northern and Southern parts of the American continent, Airdrop creates record releases that have Argentine and US artists come together.

With a great love and respect for the vinyl recording format, yet enhancing the modern means of digital distribution and new technology, the airborne combat plan was to frequently release new sounding music, leaving the inhabitants of this planet’s dance hubs gagging for more. The founders, hailing from France but now based in Buenos Aires and New York, are very receptive to international movements, and eager to impassionately relay the vibes of the limitless scene that is electronic music.

By establishing relationships with artists from all and any part of the world, Airdrop manages to capture universal dreams, and to breathe life into sleepless streets, thanks to their highly gifted, inventive and inspired team of local and multi-cultural artists, who are all full of new beats and ideas. Airdrop defies categorization – its releases fuse house, techno, funk, disco, ambient and many more genres into a holistic one as they aim to unite, not separate, the floor.

With unique projects being released every other week, Airdrop also focuses on distinct regions with their Extraction compilation series to draw attention to respective local scenes, showcasing new talents and up-and-coming artists.

2009 saw the Airdrop Records crew play prestigious gigs at WMC, DEMF and Zurich’s Streetparade. The year also marked the first 12″ release for Greener Records, a fantastic dub techno oriented and Rosario-based label, founded by Andres Zacco and produced by Airdrop.

With many fresh projects coming up, including the vinyl only releases of Aux-Rec (Airdrop’s new imprint for bootleg and edit works) hip-hop records and indie releases, 2010 announces itself to be brilliant for Airdrop Records…
