Electric Zoo Festival in NYC Sept 5-6 + Heidi Skype interview
August 10, 2009
After years of consistently producing some of the best electronic music events in NYC and Miami, including the notorious Sunday School for Degenerates in NY and Miami, Made Event is now moving onto its biggest production yet. The festival is of epic proportion and will continue to grow out the DJ scene in NYC and the US. NY has been buzzing for a while and this will only help to remind ourselves and the rest of the world that NYC has more and more to offer for those addicted to dancing and a powerful soundsystem.
Made Event took a big leap and announced the Electric Zoo festival, booking some of the most in demand names in electronic music across many sub genres from Richie Hawtin to David Guetta. The lineup is massive and yes there are names that you do not like or do not know, but hey you can’t be everywhere at the same time. Besides, they just announced the stages, so now we know that the Sunday School Hill Top can be a comfort zone for the techno snobs. Hopefully, this will make it easier to dodge some of the meat-packing-muscle madness as well.
Sunday School Hill Top Lineup
Saturday:
Luciano, Danny Tenaglia, Marco Carola, Francois K, Paco Osuna, Speedy J and Martin Buttrich
Sunday:
Richie Hawtin, Victor Calderone, Steve Bug, Adam Beyer, Audion, Guy Gerber (Live), and Heidi
In addition to this stage, there are other acts to see and not too many trade offs to make. The festival is a huge production taking place at Randall’s Island* a pretty short and accessible subway ride. So far, Made Event seems to be doing things right with solid promotion, a big budget, clear communications and hopefully a production to make the event run smoothly.
You can get the details here for how to get there, tickets and more info. If a its a sunny day, hopefully it will look a little something like this:
I would not be surprised if Made Event actually had the lawn mowed that way.
We’ll find out soon enough. In the mean time, you can still get tickets before they go up on August 14th here or at Halcyon in Brooklyn.
*NY Water Taxi will be offering daily service to and from Randall’s Island Park for both days of the festival. Choose to depart from E. 35th St or E. 90th St in Manhattan, or Hunter’s Point in Queens. The price is $10 each way, while supplies last. To purchase ferry tickets from NY Water Taxi, click here.
POST UPDATE:
The set times for the festival have been announced and it is now time to count the minutes and hours until the begining. There are many artists to get excited for and one of our favorites is Heidi who is known to get the party started with her unparalleled DJ dancing moves. Enjoy the South Park themed Soul Clap Skype interview of Heidi below.

Made Event has really gone the distance to create a festival in NY that can make its mark and are also making efforts to stretch beyond the full spectrum of electronic music, and will also have innovative installations such the Sonic Forest by Christopher Janney, which is an interactive piece previously featured at Coachella.
