W+L BLACK 01 – THE SOUL CLAP EDITS

We don’t usually announce or post releases coming from other houses than ours, but when our direct fam is involved and in nothing less than such a fantastic project, we can only celebrate and spread the word! The acclaimed NYC imprint/ trend-setting/ culture versing Wolf + Lamb has been creating tidal waves of bluesy grooves and passionate soul with their releases and activities since the beginning of this decade. With their digital line and now three releases on their new record label, Wolf + Lamb Music, the founders – Gadi and Zev – follow their strong and respectful intent, standing as a much needed change in an electronic habitat so often ungrateful to its own roots.
Coming back to the roots is exactly what’s being taken care of here in the devellopment of Wolf + Lamb Black – a vinyl only project dedicated to edits. Now, handling edits, who better than our own Soul Clap boys? In their review of the record, Resident Advisor calls them the “Boston party-hounds”, a designation that no one who knows Eli and Charlie of Soul Clap could refute. However, partying and producing anything from funky to pounding music shouldn’t forbid one to look back in time and history, and acknowledge the immense wealth in musical patrimony that a lucky few stand as its proud heir. Soul Clap not only know that, they live it.
The two edits bring back two 80′s Soul and Disco gems to light. The A-side, Conscious, is directly aimed at pure amorous cheminee-side hairy carpet loving action. Hear it once, sing it for a lifetime, trust me! Flipside is THE journey through Cosmic Disco… in a red-hot flaming ride with folded roof sliding down the surface of a waterside byway. Be on the ball and look out for this unique treat and more Wolf + Lamb Black cuts to come in the future. As for the boyz… quickly joining a legacy of edit masters lead by the likes of Beatconductor or Todd Terje, Soul Clap is the riches of the rich.
