We haven’t posted an episode for a minute and in order to be forgiven we are super excited to send you today a little treasure of a mix from a pearl of an artist: Tanner Ross‘ Live and Uncut @ 71 Aldie. But first let us remind you of all the different sounds of the man who has more facets than a disco ball! Indeed, Tanner Ross has different aliases depending on his musical mood: while on the one hand his Marcel Wave moniker is characteristic of a sunny and somewhat deep atmosphere – you can find his latest Marcel Wave-signed production as the opening track for our last EXTRACTION US compilation – on the other hand his Voodeux alter ego – with partner James Watt – translates into a spookey-yet-groovey stripped down techno sound.
You probably have heard and seen some of the huge cloud of buzz growling around their most recent release – the Bones EP on Mothership. Bones has been receiving the praises of the likes of MANDY, Kiki or Nic Fanciulli. The EP includes two perfectly engineered blood-thirsty monsters that are destroying the longest and widest dancefloor this planet has to offer. Tanner Ross has been preparing a series of treat for us, avid listeners, to savour bit after beat all along 2009. Don’t forget to breathe.

[...] Tanner Ross has risen quickly to shine amidst the hot lights and fast life of the international dance music scene. Born and bred in New Jersey, Tanner moved to Boston to study sound synthesis at the esteemed Berklee College of Music in 2005. His experiences at Berklee drove him deeper and deeper into the underground dance music scene. After meeting Claude VonStroke and Justin Martin and develloping his own sound with various releases and appearances on the legendary SF based Dirtybird label, Tanner also teamed up with studio partner James Watts aka KiloWatts to produce under the Voodeux moniker. Described as ‘Halloween on wax’ Voodeux is the human manifestation of creepy house and techno. The result of this potent concoction of the pair’s influences and technical wizardry is a hypnotic spell over the senses shrouded in suspense and the unexpected. Resonate with a modern day soundtrack to a slasher movie. With an album out for the Voodeux project ‘The Paranormal’, and the hit ‘Just A Spoonful’ topping all Summer charts, Tanner still keeps on exploring different electronic dimensions.
