Circoloco invades NYC

30 10 2008

After a heartbreaking summer where DC 10 was constantly in the news regarding fines, its closure and the resulting decease of the Ibiza “daylife”, Circoloco has managed to survive! Now, the madness is coming to New York for a very special Halloween appearance presented by Sheik’n'Beik and ReSolute.

Don’t be scared, with 2 rooms full of great music, its lucky that we can get it all in one place. The line up is sure to keep you there the whole time bouncing between the Circoloco room with Tania Vulcano, Cirillo and Andrew Grant, and the ReSolute room with our favorite residents Connie and Elon, Mobilee’s GummiHZ, Animaltek, but especially the very anticipated Alka Rex live set, which is rumored to kill 1 out of every 5 people - so happy halloween, keep it LOCO!

CLIP - DUB ETNIC (w/ Bvoice & Khz)
AD DIG004 OUT NOW ON BEATPORT

24 10 2008

AirDrop Records are on a roll and deliver the next strike without further delay. Again unearthing some of the freshest talents around, they signed Clip from Buenos Aires who is ready to take over with his seriously groovy outing on AirDrop - which funnily enough, is his first release ever! Well, kind of. Under his moniker Peter Pan Project, he has already enjoyed considerable success as one of his original tracks was included on the “AirDrop Extraction” compilation which came out a few months ago, showcasing fresh talent and emerging artists from Argentina.

An exciting new development for the devoted DJ and producer Clip aka Seb who was born 30 years ago and jumpstarted his career in 1999 when he began to buy vinyls which later led to a steadfast career in a record shop called Plasma in Buenos Aires. Since then, he has DJed in all the Argentinean hot spots and even started a “cultural interchange”, organizing parties and events in Uruguay.

His track is an exciting journey that manages to ruff up the floor with its charming little clinks and cracks and rattling, scatting voice snippets. Quirky old school drums that sound like from outer Detroit city limit push the track forward, while a bunch of shivery crunching hihats and a weirdly screeching alarm clock sample that drives the track around the bend towards the end get softly underlined by a fine outing of subliminal dub. Very subtle and driving, the original track creates a lingering sensation of grooviness…

The remix duty was taken on by the Russian duo Bvoice and Khz, a pair of producers hailing from somewhere really, really far out. So far out that people walk on their heads and talk with their feet. Cool place. Their remix is similarly unsettling - in a nice way. Imagine bouncing on some cloud, with your feet all covered in lush marsh-mellow pads, when suddenly these slightly disharmonic keys that float into space and turn the track into a melancholic, ragged silver dreamscape. Deep stuff.

Supported by John Selway, Sebbo, Roman S, Elon, Sassmouth, Lunatik, Derek Plaslaiko, Eric Cloutier, Nikola Baytala, Gurtz & Fase Miusic Sender.

1. Dub Etnic (Original Mix)

2. Dub Etnic (Bvoice & Khz Remix)

AirPod Nº13 - Andres Zacco

24 10 2008

One of Argentina’s most exceptional producers offers us a rich blend of classic sounds and deep grooves on AirPod’s 13th Episode!

Andres Zacco was born in Pergamino, Argentina. After spending a few years in Buenos Aires, it was in Rosario that he decided to make his home. Since then, Andres has been preparing numerous superior releases that will see the light soon. Also extremely active on the local Argentine scene, Andres plays in the most interesting events and live jam sessions along the likes of Leonel Castillo, Jonas Kopp or Jorge Savoretti.

His productions carry a strong heritage in underground dance music, Andres Zacco also follows the footsteps of his mentor and great friend Franco Cinelli. Combining subtle kinds of Techno sounds with classic patterns in House music, Andres creates a very natural mix that comes as pleasantly surprising in a country sometimes dominated by over-the-top minimalistic approaches.

Andres also recently founded Greener Records. With a fantastic first release, receiving the collaboration of Lineas de Nazca and Kai-Maan and the remixing wonders of Franco Cinelli, Greener announces itself as extremely promising. Be on the lookout for the next release that features original productions by Lucas Mari. You must remember the latter from his joint EP with Andres on Stock5, the Carbonela EP, which also features a remix by Seph, selected by Ellen Allien to appear on her Boogy Bytes mixed compilation.

Also on the timetable is Andres’ highly expected record on AIRDROP, coming in the early days of 2009… a singularly happy new year already announces itself!
